Are you being kind to yourself?

‘Self care is how you take your power back’

Does prioritising yourself make you feel selfish? If you answered yes then, sadly, you are in the majority of people who believe that we shouldn’t be putting ourselves first.

In my opinion, being ‘selfish’ shouldn’t be seen as a bad thing! Looking after yourself should absolutely be your number 1 priority, not just for you but for the people you care about and love.

When you work in the fitness industry your life can feel very full. You might love your job, but that doesn’t mean that your body and mind don’t need rest from time to time. It’s important to listen to your body, check in with yourself and indulge in a little self-care. We associate the word ‘selfish’ with negativity, however there’s nothing negative about a bit of self-love every now and again and doing exactly what you want to make you feel better and to be able to serve your clients better.

I recently came accross these 12 steps for self care and I want to share them with you:

  1. If it feels wrong, don’t do it.
  2. Say exactly what you mean.
  3. Don’t be a people pleaser.
  4. Trust your instincts.
  5. Never speak bad of yourself.
  6. Never give up on your dreams.
  7. Don’t be afraid to say no.
  8. Don’t be afraid to say yes.
  9. Be kind to yourself.
  10. Let go of what you can’t control.
  11. Stay away from drama and negativity.
  12. Surround yourself with people who make you feel good.

If you are kind to yourself and allow yourself to have your much needed ‘you-time’, then you will be able to give the very best version of yourself to your family/ friends/ clients/ career/ colleagues. Sometimes a simple bit of R&R to recharge your batteries is just what you need to make you feel brand new and ready to take on the world again!!

Have a great week!
