Have you heard of ‘shiny ball syndrome’? We’re at an age now where everything is instant and at our finger tips. This fast-paced nature of the modern world results in us being easily distracted and we struggle to focus on just one thing. Be honest… while you’re reading this do you have other browser windows open? Facebook? Instagram? WhatsApp?
Similarly, in the fitness industry there are lots of different classes and qualifications out there to choose from. I am certainly no exception to shiny ball syndrome in the fitness industry. In my early days as a fitness instructor I did Zumba, personal training, aqua aerobics, step and so much more. I was teaching all these different classes because I thought that it was what I had to do in order to make ends meet. You say yes to everything and you work with everybody, but over the years I have learned that you do not have to do this.
In my business, we teach over 40 ‘On Broadway’® Dance Fitness classes a week and it is the same routine in each class throughout the week. We’re not teaching loads of different genres and products. What we provide is clear and it is successful. You don’t have to teach everything to everyone for it to be a success… in fact it’s quite the opposite. F.o.c.u.s is key…
